Google to phase out free shopping feed clicks

At the moment, Google provide a free shopping feed for any e-tailer who wants to upload a feed of their products to the Google servers. Today, Google announced they’ll be phasing this out and replacing it with Google Shopping, which, from early reports, will run like a comparison shopping site, similar to those already popular here in Australia – Get Price, My Shopping and more.

Like Google Adwords, the system will be based on a bid price, but the relevance of your products to the keywords will also be taken in to consideration. Cost per click or sales conversion bidding will be available. At the moment, most comparison sites in Australia are a flat price per click, and they choose the ranking themselves.

With e-commerce growing each year, the paid advertising market is sure to see more changes. Read more here.
